2019 Hispanic Seafair Cohort

Hispanic Seafair Cohort participants become representatives of the scholarship program, the Alianza Leadership Network and the Latino community in Washington State. The following rules and guidelines have been developed to make their experience rewarding and pleasurable.

General Overview:

  1. (LCF) Latino Community Fund reserves the right to determine the participants in the 2019-2020 Hispanic Seafair Scholarship Program for Women based on all the application material submitted. Participants will be notified of acceptance into the program by March 1, 2019.

  2. Participants will be determined by Latino Community Fund and selected community leaders.

  3. All participants must be between the ages of 18 and 23 prior to and no later than July 29, 2019.

  4. Applicants must be high school graduates or graduating high school seniors as of June 2019 and must be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning or vocational institution for Fall 2019 - Spring 2020. Applicant must be female, and a United States citizen, permanent resident or on a definitive path to citizenship. Applicants must be available to serve as Miss Hispanic Seafair or Hispanic Seafair Ambassador. Applicants are able to participate in consecutive years but may not participate in more than 2 cohorts.

  5. The selected Miss Hispanic Seafair and Hispanic Ambassador will be financially sponsored by LCF to participate at the Seafair Scholarship Program for women. Cohort is encouraged to apply and if necessary, will be given fundraising assistance to pay for Seafair’s application fee.  

  6. Each participant will be required to be actively involved with a community service platform or interested in pursuing one.

  7. Participation of the 2019-2020 Scholarship Program for Women commences at the initial orientation and concludes at the annual community night.

  8. Cohort participants will conduct themselves in a proper manner and with the highest degree of integrity at all times. Scholarship program participants must remember that they represent our community and their school, as well as Latino Community Fund of Washington State. Any actions or behaviors that do not positively reflect the scholarship program or LCF will result in penalties affecting further participation in the program.

  9. No smoking, drinking or use of illegal drugs will be allowed while participating in a Hispanic Seafair function as a cohort participant. Any actions or behaviors that do not positively reflect the scholarship program or LCF will result in penalties affecting further participation in the program. Comportment rules apply to Miss Hispanic Seafair and Hispanic Seafair Ambassador during their year of service with Hispanic Seafair. Inappropriate actions will be addressed by the Hispanic Seafair program manager and Latino Community Fund staff in the following manner: a) verbal warning, b) written warning, and c) in person.

  10. Guest are not allowed to accompany participants to cohort meetings as it may prove to be a distraction - with the exception of the networking night, community service and public speaking presentation, Miss Hispanic Seafair Luncheon, approved community service activities, and the Hispanic Seafair Community Night and Award Ceremony.
