THE LATINO COMMUNITY FUND ORGANIZES CARAVAN TO SHOW APPRECIATION AND IN SOLIDARITY OF FARMWORKERS IN YAKIMA

A Statement to our Congressional and State Representatives

YAKIMA, Wash. – Tomorrow, May 1st, is International Workers’ Day, also known as May Day. This day is dedicated to celebrating farmworkers and hard-working immigrants worldwide. On this day, we show our appreciation and stand with them in solidarity to advocate for immigrant rights.

For years we have gathered and participated in marches on this day to show support and to rally. Every year we demand that our Congressional and State Representatives take action and address immigrant rights. This year our nation has been affected by COVID-19, but that will not stop us from advocating for labor and immigrants' rights. Though we do understand the seriousness of this virus and the importance of social distancing, we also know the importance of advocacy and acknowledgment. Therefore,  this year we shall Caravan and continue the movement.

Attendees will stay in their cars as we Caravan to show our appreciation and lift our voices to demand that our Legislators act in solidarity for all farm workers and immigrants in our communities. Now is the time to take action. They are essential at ALL times, not only during crisis or a pandemic. We ask for a pathway to citizenship. Now is the time to address AMNESTY.

For those who would like to join and support the cause, we will be meeting tomorrow, Friday, May 1st, 2020 at 9:00 am in the Yakima Fiesta Foods parking lot. Instructions and route will be discussed at that time.

WE THE LATINO COMMUNITY FUND OF WASHINGTON, STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH FARMWORKERS WORLDWIDE.

THEY ARE ESSENTIAL AT ALL TIMES
