Fiscal Sponsorship

The Latino Community Fund of Washington offers fiscal sponsorship to organizations and programs in various development phases. Through this capacity building, LCF provides technical assistance, leadership development, and fundraising support to programs and organizations that provide value to the Latino community in our state.

LCF is a 501(c)3 organization. As a fiscal sponsor, we provide capacity support for organizations to receive funding, manage their operations, and deliver community drive programs in WA State.

FISCAL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

Fiscal sponsorship is an excellent way for a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization (the sponsor) to help another group (the sponsored partner). LCF acts as a fiscal sponsor, meaning we handle the legal and financial responsibilities for any sponsored partner. As a result, the Partner organization's goals must align with our mission to ensure a strong partnership. As a fiscal sponsor, we offer fiduciary oversight, financial management, and a variety of administrative services to help support and grow the capacity of the charitable project or group. If a potential Partner's mission aligns with ours, we'll work together to create a formal written agreement.

One of the great benefits of fiscal sponsorship is that it allows a sponsored partner to apply for grants and accept tax-deductible donations. This support helps reduce their costs, conserve resources, avoid unnecessary staff duplication, and simplify organizational tasks.

When managed well, fiscal sponsorship can be an excellent way for new ideas or newly formed nonprofits to get started and make the most of the sponsor's administrative resources. Many budding nonprofit groups choose to work with fiscal sponsors while they wait for their IRS 501(c)(3) status.

TYPES OF FISCAL SPONSORSHIP

We provide Model A Fiscal Sponsorship. In Model A, the fiscally-sponsored partner becomes a program of the fiscal sponsor and is fully integrated into the fiscal sponsor. The sponsor receives charitable donations and grants as its own assets and then makes the funds available to the project while maintaining discretion and control.

As the legal, tax-exempt entity under which the partner operates, LCF is the legal party and signatory to all contracts entered into on behalf of the project, including grant agreements.

Fiscal Sponsorship Fee: 10% Fee on all revenue of group (negotiable on some funds for flat fees when applicable → EXAMPLE: Funds arriving right before a group spins off and we hold funds for a limited time with little to no use)
Tiered Fee: 10% fee up to $500,000 in revenue, after which an assessment on funds will be conducted to identify a fiscal sponsorship fee of 10-15% on any revenue over $500,000.
