Hispanic Seafair started in 1980 with the intention to unite the Latino community and empower young Latinas to become leaders through education, community service and scholarship. Every year Hispanic Seafair selects one woman in the community as Miss Hispanic Seafair, based on her academics, community involvement, public speaking abilities and other soft skills.

In previous years, LCF offered fiscal sponsorship to the Hispanic Seafair Organization. In September 2017, Hispanic Seafair became a program of Latino Community Fund of Washington State. LCF selected the 2017-18 scholarship recipient with the support of past Hispanic Seafair participants. In an effort to provide more scholarship and increase our community presence at Seafair and community events year round, Hispanic Seafair and LCF opted to create the Hispanic Seafair Ambassador scholarship to grant to a second young Latina. As part of the new program experience, participants were part of a cohort to develop and execute community service projects, attend leadership workshops, facilitate community forums.

In 2017, Axa Molina, Miss Hispanic Seafair 2017, received the the prestigious title of Miss Seafair 2017-2018 and a generous scholarship. While Karen Gamez, Hispanic Seafair Ambassador 2017, received the title of 2nd Seafair Princess and a scholarship. It is the second time a Latina wins at Seafair and the first time two representatives make top 3.
